Italian Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Wicklow beef and free-range Irish pork with parmesan and toasted fennel seed.

Quality chuck minced beef prepared to an authentic Italian recipe and served up in a handmade plum tomato sauce. It's interesting to note that Italians rarely if ever serve their meatballs on spaghetti at home, only in restaurants for tourists. Serve ours with some crunchy ciabatta or some of our oven-ready potato chunks in olive oil which you can find in our side dishes.

Ingredients

Minced Irish Beef, Minced Irish Free Range Pork, Onion, Milk, Parmesan Cheese (Milk), Breadcrumb(Wheat), Fresh Parsley, Fennel Seeds, Nutmeg, Sea Salt, Black Pepper 
Our Simple Italian Tomato Sauce: Tomato Passata, Onions, Sugar, Basil, Garlic, Olive Oil, Salt, Black Pepper.

Nutrition & Portions Explained

350g portion with 5 meatballs would be appropriate for a healthy & active adult with a good appetite.

250g portion with 3 meatballs is designed to meet the Recommended Daily Allowances for each ingredient and would be appropriate for a smaller appetite or a child.

Serving suggestions

 It's interesting to note that Italians rarely, if ever, serve their meatballs on spaghetti at home, only in restaurants for tourists. Serve ours with some crunchy ciabatta or some of our oven-ready potato chunks in olive oil which you can find in our side dishes.

Cooking  Instructions

These cooking instructions are only a guide. Your appliance may have a different set of power ratings. Adjust accordingly. Make sure your food is piping hot (>70ºC) before serving.


For best results use your conventional oven.

Oven :

From Frozen: Remove the cellophane and place it in a preheated oven at 180ºC for about 25 mins. Check to see if the food is piping hot at the centre. If not, return to the oven for another few minutes.
Defrosted: Reduce cooking time to about 15 minutes

Microwave:

From Frozen: Use the Defrost Program or low power for about 12 minutes. Shake or stir the contents and then return at high power for 2/3 minutes more to ensure that it is piping hot.

Defrosted: High Setting 2/3min

Hob:

Transfer contents to saucepan and heat slowly until piping hot. Remember to add water to prevent the sauce from drying out.

Storage:

Storage: Store at <-180C If defrosted, refrigerate at <50C & eat within 24hrs
